The New Team Members

We’ve been working on NEO TITAN since 2022. Of course, phops and I are working together once again, but we thought now would be a great opportunity to introduce you all to the other core members of the team.

Meet Jake [Submerged Tapes]…

I met Jake through twitter during Archvale’s development, and he came aboard near the end to help polish up all of the sound. He had a fairly brief window to work on the game, but his contributions completely revamped Archvale’s soundscape.

For NEO TITAN, we brought Jake on board right from the start of the project. I always aim to make everything feel impactful and satisfying in the games I make, and I think sound plays an incredibly important part of that. Having Jake on from the start has meant we’ve had loads of time to dial in everything and get it feeling just right.

This time around, Jake has also covered the music. Jake hails from the south west of the UK (same as me) where there is a huge drum and bass scene, so the soundtrack is packed with D&B influence. The track from the trailer has been a particular point of excitement, so we’ve uploaded it (and a series of OST tracks) to various platforms for you to check out!

We’ve uploaded a few extra tracks from the soundtrack early for you all to take a listen to. You can listen to it on both Spotify and YouTube Music.

Meet Matthew Griffin…

In early 2023, we shared a post on Twitter showing off our new game and asking if any publishers would be interested in chatting with us about it. Matt sent me a DM, and asked to play a demo.

We talked with a bunch of publishers, but Matt’s passion for the game and reputation in the world of metroidvanias meant we had no doubts about bringing him on board.

Matt is always on the lookout of opportunities for NEO TITAN, and helps us strategize the game’s marketing. Watching him play through the game is always a great time, and he always has great insights and suggestions. He also plays the important role of a difficulty benchmark - I have a tendency to make things a little too hard.

We’ll be sharing more teasers over the coming weeks and months, so stay tuned!

NEO TITAN REVEALED!

NEO TITAN is the second game by Phops and I, following our release of Archvale in 2021. To fans of Archvale, this will be a familiar affair with some exciting new twists. We’re once again playing in the realm of twin-stick bullet hell action, yet this time in a hand-crafted metroidvania-style world filled with branching paths, hidden shortcuts, and deadly foes.

Rapidly swapping between melee and ranged weaponry is a vital part of NEO TITAN’s combat system - melee strikes recharge your ammo, meaning you’ll need to play aggressive and maximise opportunities to get up close and personal with enemies. As you explore and conquer challenging bosses, you’ll acquire new abilities which both enhance your combat potential and grant access to new locations across the world.

We’ll be talking in greater detail about NEO TITAN in the future, but for now, you can check the game out on Steam.

Wishlisted Showcase & LVL UP EXPO

NEO TITAN INTERVIEW

NEO TITAN debuted at the Wishlisted showcase, which gave us the opportunity to take a playable demo over to LVL UP EXPO in Las Vegas, USA. We had a bunch of people play our demo, which proved a formidable challenge.

We really enjoyed celebrating with the skilled players who managed to down the end boss of the demo, and rooting for them from the sidelines as they persevered. This was the first opportunity I’ve had to take a game of ours along to a showcase, and also the first time I’ve properly travelled outside of the UK - it was an exciting time.

And, as a bonus, I managed to meet up with Phops - in person - for the first time since we started working on games together 12 years ago. I had no idea what he even looked like until now! We explored Vegas together and ate some great food, but now we are home and more motivated than ever to get back to work on NEO TITAN.

We can’t wait to share more about the game soon.
